Armed with a sporty new design, the use of upscale materials and three power choices for every need, the 2018 Accord will soon be making a big splash at Chapman Honda. As one of the most popular vehicle choices in the past few decades, the Accord has proven itself as a dependable form of transportation that’s both efficient and comfortable. Honda designers sharpened their pencils in the past year and have now delivered an aggressive, muscular design that will make you rethink the appeal of this midsize sedan.

Exterior Both Bold and Thoughtful

Now outfitted with both LED headlight and tail lamps, a new aerodynamic shape that flows from front to back and strong body lines that are both muscular and sophisticated, the new Honda Accord is much more than just a friendly family car. Honda has discontinued the coupe model for the 2018 model year, concentrating instead on the sedan and hybrid. “We put coupe goodness in the sedan,” Honda VP Jeff Conrad told Motor Trend. Now with a longer wheelbase, the new Accord is also wider and lower, creating an aggressive look that should appeal to buyers who want a little athleticism in their daily drive. “This is unquestionably the most dramatic remake of the Accord we’ve ever done,” Conrad said.

Step Inside for Creature Comforts

Designers didn’t stop at the exterior with the retooling of the Accord. A new interior features a three-tier instrument panel, comfortable grip steering wheel with paddle shifters and thumb rests and a 12-way driver’s seat with optional heating and cooling. The infotainment system comes in a full 8-inch screen with redundant knobs for people who like to tune the radio the old-school way. HondaLink is a telematics service that offers remote control of some functions such as door locking and engine start. It’s also the fastest way to get roadside assistance.

Honda Sensing Now Standard

The Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance features now comes standard on the Accord, including all trim levels. A bevy of sensor and camera-driven safety features, such as collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control will help avoid collisions. There is even a feature called traffic sign recognition that alerts you to possible danger on the road ahead.

Turbo Engine Uses Regular Gas

Honda has eliminated the V6 option on the Accord for 2018, opting instead to go for a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that uses regular fuel. It’s tuned for low-end power, delivering a healthy 273 pound-feet of torque and 252 horsepower. The base engine is a 1.5L four-cylinder that produces 185 horsepower. Honda also offers an Accord Hybrid with a power unit that fits neatly under the rear floor to allow more room in the trunk. The new 5-door Honda Civic Hatchback has been described as “frisky,” offering drivers on a budget a chance to get behind the wheel of something that offers performance and efficiency combined with a little attitude. Starting at just $19,900, the hatchback is arriving at dealerships now and should be on the lot at Chapman Honda very soon. Not Your Grandma’s Civic

The Honda Civic has stood the test of time, offering reliable transportation at an affordable price for the past few decades. While the early Civics were great means of getting from Point A to Point B, no one can say they were particularly fun to drive. Not so for the new Hatchback, which sports up to a 180-horsepower engine in the Sport and Sport Touring models. You can also get steering wheel mounted paddle shifters like the kind much more expensive sports cars use. The Sport model offers underbody spoilers, standard fog lights and 18-inch alloy wheels. Move to the Sport Touring model and you’re at the top of the line, with leather interior, navigation, a 540-watt sound system and the entire Honda Sensing Suite of driver assistance features. For something more middle of the road and price range, choose the EX trim package. It starts at just $23,000 and includes a power moon roof, remote start, Honda LaneWatch and a 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system.

Say Goodbye to Your Gas Station Buddy

It’s not like you’ll never see him again, but your friend who runs the gas station will watch you drive by on a daily basis when you’re in your new Honda Civic Hatchback. Rated at 40 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg in the city, this sporty sedan with a lift gate delivers near-hybrid fuel efficiency numbers. Designed for the modern driver, the flowing aerodynamic lines not only provide supreme fuel efficiency, but deliver a stylish attitude that will make you proud to get behind the wheel.

Honda Sensing Suite Provides Electronic Buffer

Much like when the star ship commander gives the order to raise the shields in the movies, the Honda Sensing Suite of sensor and camera-driven features provides a cocoon of safety around your new Civic Hatchback. This available feature won’t actually stop another vehicle from hitting you, but it provides warnings and takes action if you fail to respond when a crash is imminent. By monitoring all sides and alerting you to impending danger, it’s another way Honda has of helping you get home safely.
