Civic Type R Coming Soon

Stay in touch with Chapman Honda to get dibs on the first test drive of the all-new Honda Civic Type R, coming to the showroom later this spring. The Civic Type R is an affordable sports car for the driving enthusiast, featuring a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 306 horsepower and a cartilage rattling 295 pound feet of torque. Serious drivers will appreciate the short-throw six-speed manual transmission, which is the only gearbox that comes with the Type R.

Civic Type R Ready to Race

From the stiffly-bolstered lightweight front seats that hold you in place as you power around corners to the customized driving modes that help you adjust to various road conditions, the Honda Civic Type R is ready for the track as soon as it comes off the showroom floor. The +R driving mode selector lets you pick any of three customized settings that adjust the steering, throttle and suspension for optimal performance and handling. Adaptive dampers read the road and adjust on the fly to give the most stability, while a limited slip differential makes sure the wheels get traction as needed for better cornering.

Aero Kit Gives Racing Advantage

The Honda Civic Type R offers an aerodynamic kit that has the advantage of going through thousands of track runs to fine tune the use of air for handling and efficiency. Side and front splitters, along with vortex generators and a large rear wing work together to keep the wheels glued to the road. Large 20-inch wheels can handle the special tires you need for such a monster of the track. The triple-exhaust system delivers a rumbling roar that lets the world know this is not your aunt’s Civic.

Dual Axis Struts Increase Feel of Road

Drivers of the new Honda Civic Type R will notice an increased road “feel” from other Civic models, due to the addition of Honda’s new “dual axis” front strut setup. This engineering marvel separates the steering knuckle from the strut to treat the steering and suspension forces differently. The new Civic Type R is expected to start in the mid-$30,000 range and only comes with a Touring trim package. This does include a 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration for both Apple and Android. Automatic climate control and a power 540-watt sound system are both standard. Check in often at Chapman Honda to see when the new Type R will be available for a test drive.
