Honda Takes Wraps Off Brand New Odyssey

New Generation Reveals New Features

When the new generation of Honda Odyssey minivans arrives at Chapman Honda this spring, expect a whole new suite of features. The Odyssey is already America’s most popular minivan, but a new MagicSlide second row seat and a communication system to bring the front and third rows together promise to make the Odyssey more popular than ever. “This new Odyssey raises the stakes for family-friendly packaging, performance and technology in the minivan segment,” according to Honda executive VP John Mendel. “In all aspects of its design, the new Odyssey is made to keep every member of the family happy, no matter the seating position, no matter the destination.”

CabinWatch, CabinTalk Brings Passengers Together

One of the problems with minivans and large SUVs is the distance between the front and third rows. It can make communication difficult, and sometimes keeps parents from seeing what the kids are doing. CabinTalk lets the driver speak to the second and third row passengers through the speakers and entertainment system headphones. CabinWatch lets the driver and front passenger keep an eye on the whole cabin through the display screen on the infotainment system. CabinControl is another new feature that lets anyone download an app to control the rear temperature and entertainment system through their smart phone.

MagicSlide Eases Quick Configuration

The Honda Odyssey’s new MagicSlide second-row seating makes it easy to move chairs around for third-row access or to haul cargo. Remove the center seat and the two outside seats slide through five positions. Super mode gives the most access to the third row, while wide mode provides a center aisle for passengers to walk through. The movable seats aren’t the only upgrades to the cabin. More attention has been paid to sound proofing with triple door seals and optional acoustic front and side glass. Sound deadening materials under the floor help keep the road noise on the outside where it belongs.

Powerful Engine Pairs With New Transmission

The powerful 3.5L i-VTEC V-6 engine powers the Odyssey by generating up to 280 horsepower, a 32 horse improvement from the previous model. You’ll have your choice of a 9-speed or all-new 10-speed automatic transmission that provides the utmost in power and efficiency. A new lightweight body and improved chassis technology provides superior handling, making this minivan a fun-to-drive people hauler. Test drive the new Honda Odyssey soon when it arrives at Chapman Honda.
